What the shim does in a GbW scale

Mahlkönig GbW grinders weigh the dose while grinding, through a load cell in the portafilter holder. For the scale to read correctly, the load cell must sit at the right height and be completely stable.

The shim plate is part of the load cell assembly and sets its position. If it is missing, bent or replaced with the wrong part, the scale can give unstable or incorrect doses.

Why replace it

When you need it

1. When replacing or refitting the load cell.
2. When the scale reads unstably or the dose drifts from the setting.
3. When the existing plate is lost or bent.
